About BizVets LA

BizVets LA is a Los Angeles–based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting veterans across the full spectrum of business activity, from early-stage entrepreneurship to established companies and corporate leadership. The organization serves as a connective platform for veterans engaged in business by facilitating access to relationships, knowledge, and resources that are critical to long-term professional and commercial success. Through programming, events, and partnerships, BizVets LA brings together veteran founders, operators, investors, executives, and service providers within a structured, mission-driven community.

With a focus on the Greater Los Angeles region, BizVets LA operates at the intersection of networking, education, capital access, and opportunity creation for veterans in business. Its initiatives encompass mentorship, thought leadership, curated events, and collaboration with public and private institutions, all designed to strengthen the veteran business ecosystem in Los Angeles. BizVets LA’s work is grounded in the principle that meaningful economic participation by veterans—across industries and stages of growth—creates durable value for individuals, companies, and the broader community.

History

BizVets LA emerged in 2024 during an informal organizing phase led by a group of veterans in Los Angeles who recognized a structural gap within the local veteran community. While Los Angeles is one of the most expensive economic environments in the country, veterans transitioning from military service often do so with limited personal capital, uneven exposure to commercial-sector skills, and few veteran-centered business networks tailored to the realities of the region. Los Angeles County is home to approximately 200,000 veterans, representing one of the largest veteran populations in any U.S. county, and the city itself supports a vast and dynamic business ecosystem with approximately ten thousand veteran-owned enterprises. The organization was formed around a shared recognition that, despite strong leadership experience, veterans in Los Angeles were not consistently gathering with the explicit purpose of building wealth, advancing business outcomes, or creating durable economic opportunity for one another.

Following its initial meeting in June 2024, BizVets LA moved quickly from concept to execution. Membership began forming organically in August 2024 and has since grown to more than seventy active members, reflecting demand for a structured, business-focused veteran community in Los Angeles. As the organization matured, it established relationships with leading financial institutions, law firms, and academic partners, and collaborated with city, county, and state entities to expand its reach and impact. Sponsors and partners have included JPMorgan Chase, UCLA, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and Cooley LLP, as well as strategic engagement with public-sector stakeholders across Los Angeles and California more broadly. This early growth phase laid the foundation for BizVets LA’s role as a durable platform for veteran economic participation within the Los Angeles business ecosystem.
